About Linda

The text and photos shared on this page provide some insight into the inspiration for my work. The photos illustrate some important aspects of my life outside of work, such as family and pets, gardening, travel, and the beauty of our natural landscape. A professional vitae is available for details about my professional career.

The jewelry, images, and vessels that I create are inspired by many varied sources: land formations, natural phenomena, botanical references, art from ancient civilizations, favorite passages in literature, early training in classical dance, and other personal experiences. Manipulation of the material is also an important source of inspiration, with an active concern for the formal elements of design: line, form, volume, composition, texture, reflection, contrast and movement.

A significant motivation for my work comes from a persistent need for expression through some means other than written or verbal language. My art, including the marks of the tools used to create the art, serves as a visual language and means of expression.
