Sculpture & Hollowware

A particular process, technique, or tool is selected for how it can move the metal, for the surface it will create. Marks made by the tool or process guide the viewer’s eye to engage with the surface, lines, and form of the piece.

Inviting the viewer to experience my work from a tactile, as well as visual, perspective is important and plays prominently in much of my work.

Many of my pieces are created from a single sheet of metal, using only hammering processes. Other work involves creating separate components integrated to create a whole composition.

Fine Jewelry

I believe quality craftsmanship should complement creative expression. Jewelry should be comfortably wearable and contribute to the wearer’s distinct individuality. Three-dimensional pieces should be engaging and dynamic from every view point.

Much of my work is bespoke, or commissioned, and is one-of-a-kind.

Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design

Welcome to my website. The intent of this site is to share some of the work that I’ve designed and created over the span of my career as an artist and metalsmith. This is not a selling website; rather, it’s an archival selection of pieces created over the 50+ years of my creative endeavors. Narrative is included to share my thoughts, aesthetic vision, and professional vitae.

An affinity for the materials influences my desire to work in this medium of metals: gold, silver, copper, bronze, platinum, and pewter. I’m drawn to metal’s look and feel, its physical properties of malleability and ductility, and its response to the great variety of techniques and processes used to work with it. Often, other materials are incorporated into my work -- gemstones, pearls, wood, stone -- inspired by my vision for the finished piece while honoring my client's preferences.

Many of the pieces shown on this site are currently in private or public collections. These pieces are not available for purchase. Please contact me by email if you have an inquiry about my work.
